Ralf is a leading expert in the design of financial risk models, having over a decade of experience working for both the private and public sector in developing highly specialized arbitrage and fundamental-based investment strategies.  He currently holds the Foundation Chair in Finance at the University of Adelaide, as well as being a Senior Fellow at the Bradford University School of Management.  He also has held visiting professorial appointments at universities throughout the world.   He has been engaged in numerous consultancies for both the private and public sector, and in various locations, including London, New York, Zurich, Dubai and Sydney. Some of his more recent work has been with Swiss Re:, Credit Suisse, Emirates Airlines, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia. 

 

His work has also been presented and published by various mediums, including international and national public institutions (such as the World Bank and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority), professional and academic conferences throughout the globe, national press (all major national newspapers including the 'Australian Financial Review') and leading international academic finance journals.  Ralf has received numerous commendations for his work, including various awards and prizes in academic circles.  Ralf has appeared on television as an expert in financial issues as well as acting as an expert witness in supreme court cases in Australia.  He also serves as a keynote speaker as well as chairing various financial symposiums.

 

Ralf holds a number of university qualifications. After graduating with a degree in monetary economics from the London School of Economics, Ralf completed a Masters in business economics and PhD in financial econometrics from Manchester Business School.  He also holds a graduate certificate in higher education from the University of New South Wales. This academic background has led him to teach finance and economics related courses at various universities throughout the globe.

 

He is also actively engaged in the community, being heavily involved in higher education issues at the State and National level in Australia, serving on a number of boards.   He is a justice of the peace for South Australia and also serves on academic journal advisory boards, including the International Journal of Managerial Finance, where he is the joint editor.
